This abolitionist publication brings together the testimonies against the slave trade presented to a House of Commons committee in 1790 and 1791. The honesty and respectability of the witnesses, and their personal experience of the slave trade are emphasised. Testimonies are included from witnesses who had been stationed in Africa, on board slave ships, and in slave plantations in the Americas, in order to prove the illegitimacy of the trade. A French translation was published in 1814 to inform public opinion in Europe.
Also published in Edinburgh for the Glasgow and Edinburgh Societies for the Abolition of the Slave Trade (1791).
